The Ron Burgundy Podcast is back for season three, and on this episode, our host, the legendary Ron Burgundy, announces that “this may be the season that I find L-U-V-E, love.” He tells his co-host and producer, Carolina Barlow, that he’s just “tired of making love to many women, balancing schedules, trying to remember 15 names and even more phone numbers. I can’t even enjoy a dinner party with my closest male friends without one of their wives trying to jump me in the laundry room and put me in their hamper.” So this season, he plans to meet “two nice women” he can really have a relationship with. “No more drama. Mary J. Blige,” he declares.
Fortunately, Ron already has a girlfriend he wants to tell us about: Lisa, a female astronaut he met at a silverware shop. She stops by the studio to tell Ron and Carolina a little bit about space. Ron runs through her accomplishments: she graduated at the top of her class at the NASA training facility in Houston before serving as a flight engineer on an expedition to “guess where?” Ron says. “Outer space.” But when Lisa gets there, Ron has to excuse himself to go to the bathroom, leaving Carolina and Lisa alone, and Lisa reveals that she “almost killed” her ex-boyfriend. Before Carolina can get more information, Ron comes back, saying gleefully, “Girl talk! What are you talking about, where you buy your wigs?”
Carolina can’t help herself; she has to ask about the ex. Lisa tells her that when they broke up, she “put on a wig and a trenchcoat and my space diaper and drove 900 miles until the police caught up with me.” Ron laughs it off, saying, “We’ve all taken a road trip, in a diaper, seeking revenge,” but Carolina is genuinely worried. “Are you wearing a diaper now?” she asks. Faintly, we can hear the sound of liquid dripping on the ground as Lisa whispers, “What do you think?”
All in all, it’s a “great, normal start to season three,” Ron says with satisfaction. Though it looks like Ron is on the prowl again – Carolina points out that Lisa probably isn’t dating him anymore, given that “while security was carrying her out, she said, ‘Never contact me again’” – he still thinks this is the season that he’ll meet the woman he’s going to marry.
