2015 - - In Gothenburg, Sweden, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) fell off the stage and broke his leg. He had his leg set backstage and returned to perform more songs. 
2012 - Rush release a concept album titled Clockwork Angels, their 20th studio effort. 
On the album Neil Peart uses a new method in which producer Nick Raskulinecz "conducts" Peart's drumming during recordings.
1977 - Blues rocker Kenny Wayne Shepherdis born Kenny Wayne Brobst in Shreveport, Louisiana.
1973 - Grand Funk records "We're An American Band."
1969 - Mick Taylor is introduced to the media as the new guitarist of The Rolling Stones. He replaces Brian Jones
1966 - After buying pot from an undercover cop posing as a student at his high school, Steven Tallarico is arrested and charged with drug possession. He is given a year's probation and labelled a "Youthful Offender," which later keeps him from getting drafted. Tallarico later becomes Steven Tyler and forms Aerosmith.
1965 - - The Beatles received their MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) awards. 
1964 - The Zombies record "She's Not There."
1951 - Bun E. Carlos (drummer for Cheap Trick) is born Brad Carlson in Rockford, Illinois.
1951 - Brad Delp (lead vocalist for Boston) is born in Peabody, Massachusetts.
1949 - John Wetton, frontman for King Crimsonand Asia, is born in Derbyshire, England.
