2007 - Rod Stewart is awarded the CBE Order of the British Empire by Prince Charles in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

1997 - Anthony Keidis of Red Hot Chili Peppers was in a motorcyle accident and suffered a broken wrist L.A., CA.

1992 - Axl Rose is arrested at JFK airport in New York, charged with inciting a riot at a Guns N' Roses show in St. Louis the previous year.

1979 - It's "Disco Demolition Night" at Comiskey Park, where the White Sox and Tigers are playing a doubleheader. The plan is to blow up a bunch of disco albums between games, but it goes horribly wrong when fans become unruly and rush the field, forcing the White Sox to forfeit the second game.

1970 - The local band Fritz, with lead singer Stevie Nicks, opens for Janis Joplin at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in California. 

1969 - Blind Faith begin their US tour with a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Their album isn't released yet, but the show is still a sellout thanks to Clapton's star power.

1964 - George Harrison crashes his Jaguar on New Kings Road in London heading to a Beatles concert in Brighton, suffering minor injuries.

1962 - The Rolling Stones make their live debut at the Marquee Club in London subbing for Long John Baldry's Blues Incorporated.

1954 - Elvis Presley officially quits his job as a truck driver for Crown Electric in Memphis after signing a one-year contract with Sun Records (and a similar management contract with his bassist, Scotty Moore).

1950 - Eric Carr, drummer for KISS, was born in Brooklyn, New York.

1943 - Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac is born Christine Anne Perfect in Bouth, Lancashire, England.
