1975 - Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant and his family are badly injured in a car accident, while vacationing on the Greek Island of Rhodes.

1970 - The Doors' Jim Morrison is arrested in Los Angeles for public drunkenness after being found lying unconscious on a resident's doorstep.

1963 - The Beatles' "From Me To You" crack the US charts for the first time, which bubbles under at #116 on the Hot 100.

1958 - Billboard Magazine introduced its "Hot 100" chart, which was part popularity and a barometer of the movement of potential hits. The first number one song was Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool."
