2009 - A series of concerts took place at Madison Square Garden, featuring inductees Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Mick Jagger and Aretha Franklin to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

2005 - The wax figures of the younger Beatles used in the cover of the band's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album are auctioned off for 81,500 pounds in London.

2003 - A study by the Nielsen ratings people finds that a full third of the sales of Beatles 1 were to new fans between the ages of 19 and 24.

1998 - Steven Adler of Guns N' Roses surrendered to authorities to begin serving a sentence of 150 days for two counts of battery and violation of probation. 

1996 - In Pasadena, California, a judge drops drug possession charges against Stone Temple Pilot's singer Scott Weiland.

1996 - Axl Rose announces that Slash is no longer a member of Guns N' Roses.

1991 - Three members of Pink Floyd were injured in a auto race in Mexico. 

1987 - Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood gets his first public presentation, Decades, in London, featuring mostly portraits of Wood's famous friends over the past two decades.

1983 - Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album breaks the record for most weeks on the Billboard albums chart.

1978 - Rush's Hemispheres hits stores.

1973 - John Lennon releases "Mind Games" and the LP of the same name in the US.

1973 -The Who's double album, "Quadrophenia" received Gold record status. It stayed on the US charts for 40 weeks and on Britain's charts for 12 weeks. 

1971 - Duane Allman (of The Allman Brothers Band) dies in a motorcycle crash in Macon, Georgia, at age 24.

1955 - Kevin DuBrow (lead singer of Quiet Riot) is born in Los Angeles, California.

1946 - Rock guitarist Peter Green (of Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers) is born in Bethnal Green, London, England.

1944 - Denny Laine is born Brian Hines on a boat off the Jersey coast. He becomes a founding member of both The Moody Blues and Wings.
