Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante says next year's Pantera celebration concerts featuring Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, Zakk Wylde and himself will not affect Anthrax's 2023 touring plans because there won't be that many shows.

Benante said during a meet-and-greet last week in Orlando, Florida, that the Pantera shows will only be on "select" dates.

Asked if there would be a full-blown Pantera celebration tour, Benante replied, "I don't think so."

Anselmo, Brown, Wylde and Benante will headline a number of rock festivals across North America and Europe in addition to a few of their own concerts.

News broke last month that the Pantera celebration tour idea had been given the green light from the estates of late band cofounders Vinnie Paul Abbott and 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott.

Not long after it was revealed that Anselmo and Brown had hired a booking agent for the project, it was confirmed that longtime friends of the band Wylde and Benante had signed up to bring it to fruition.

Benante told Eddie Trunk in July that his goal for the shows was to sound as much like Vinnie Paul as possible.

So the way I'm gonna do that is if you close your eyes, it's gonna sound like it's Vinnie, basically. And that's how it's gonna be," he said. "The sound is gonna sound exactly like him."

No live dates for the Pantera tour have yet been announced.
