Why BMW Believes Its Motorcycle Can Fly

The ultimate motorcycle has an Akrapovic exhaust, a boxer engine, and wings… That’s right, BMW wants you to climb aboard its first of a kind R 1200 GS Adventure hover bike and tear up the skies as only a motorcyclist can! Okay, maybe not yet, but BMW Motorrad hasn’t ruled it out.

I Believe My BMW Can Fly!

In a strange partnership, BMW teamed up with Lego to create a 603-piece Lego Technic kit of the R 1200 GS Adventure. This model was a collaboration between toy designers and motorcycle engineers, but when you put that many imaginations in a room, watch out—things are going to get nuts!

The Lego Technic designers managed to repurpose the pieces in the R 1200 kit, and they made it into a rad toy hover cycle. The bike’s rear wheel became a jet engine, its fairings became wings, and BMW thought it was so cool. So, the German motorcycle maker decided to make their own.

Thus the BMW Hover Ride Concept was born. This bike has all the elegance of a true BMW mixed with the kind of future Star Wars tech you would expect to see in a science fiction movie. Unfortunately, this beautiful full-size hoverbike concept is not functional, but it just looks so cool, we don’t really care.
