When you visited the polls at the election last year, did you notice something strangely patriotic? That was probably Matthew Gnojek. He went to polling places all over Denver, dressed as Captain America, and thanked people for voting. It was a uniquely American experience, but Gnojek didn’t stop there.
Captain Colorado Saves America
This cosplayer not only spread patriotism at the polls, but he also shares the joy with children in hospitals all over Colorado. Gnojek has come to be known as the Colorado Captain, and he’s known for making people’s day brighter where ever he goes.
It all started with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and the motorcycle leathers he chose. His riding suit is a replica of Captain America’s straight out Marvel Comics’ movies. The suit and helmet earned him many fans, and so Gnojek wondered how he could use this new-found fame to help others. The man decided that he wanted to get involved in charity work, so he jumped on his motorcycle and started visiting hospitals. Now he is taking that a step forward.
Gnojek has put together a charity ride that will take him 5,200 miles across the United States. Between Denver and Boston, he will visit 30 hospitals in 17 states, and bring smiles to kids’ faces. This incredible journey started back at the beginning of September, and the Colorado Captain is still on the road.
He’s already been to places like Saint Louis, Chicago and Charlottesville, but he will soon be on the return trip to Denver. He has run into several challenges along the way, like the sign he has attached to his bike being destroyed, and some of the hospitals have not been ready for his arrival. However, the Colorado Captain has pushed on and seems to be making a lot of hospitalized children just a little happier.
The attorneys who ride at Metier Law Firm hope this rider for charity keeps on chewing up the miles! You can follow this big-hearted exploit on the Colorado Captain’s Facebook Page.
