2015 - The Grateful Dead performed the final show of their Fare Thee Well Shows in Chicago.

2002 -  Hendrix's family won an injuntion against a New York-based music production company from releasing recordings that Hendrix had performed. 

1980 - At a concert in Munich, Simon Kirke of Bad Company joins Led Zeppelin, at a concert in Munich. Kirke is the last guest musician to perform with the band, as the tour ends two days later and John Bonham dies in September.

1978 - The EMI record pressing plant in Britain stopped printing the Rolling Stones album cover for "Some Girls."  

1975 - Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love" was released. 

1969 - The Who released "I'm Free."

1969 - The Stones put on a free concert in London's Hyde Park and 250,000 show up.

1968 - Bill Graham opened The Fillmore West in San Francisco. 

1966 - Chas Chandler of The Animals sees Jimi Hendrix perform in NY and becomes Jimi's manager.

1954 - Elvis Presley records first single, "That's Alright Mama" at Memphis' Sun Records.

1943 - Robbie Robertson is born Jaime Royal Robertson in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
